The Spring Symposium: Making Oak Cliff Even Better

Oak Cliff continues to evolve into a strong and diverse urban community. This is due not only to its one-of-a-kind natural beauty and aesthetic, but also due to the diverse group of citizens that remain fully engaged and empowered within the community.

Keeping Oak Cliff real means protecting and maintaining the beauty of our natural landscapes and architecture. Robert Curry with the City of Dallas will be speaking on how Code Compliance can enhance community and livability in Oak Cliff. Learn how to address code compliance issues in neighbor-friendly ways that promote a sense of community, foster civic pride and enhance the over-all quality of life in Oak Cliff.

The strength of a community is largely influenced by the degree to which citizens are engaged within that community. Its strength is also influenced by the ways in which this “human capital” is renewed, extended and applied. Meghan Delaney with VolunteerNow USA will be discussing the importance of volunteerism in Oak Cliff. Come learn techniques on how to develop, nurture and inspire community volunteerism in your neighborhood.

As Oak Cliff continues to evolve, so must its citizens. Maintaining Oak Cliff as the amazing and highly desired urban community that we all know and love requires effort and commitment. According to Georgie Rasco with the Neighborhood Alliance of Oklahoma City, “living in a safe and beautiful neighborhood is a responsibility, not a right.” Rasco will be speaking on how to empower citizens with the skills, resources and connections necessary to improve their neighborhoods and the lives of everyone within that community.

Bonus: A special workshop will be held directly after the Symposium addressing 501c3 designation and application process.
