George Orwell’s classic film “1984” at the Texas Theatre.

The British dystopian drama written for the screen and directed by Michael Radford was released in 1984 and is based on Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, published in 1948.  Texas Theatre is joining movie houses in 165 cities and in 43 states, as well as locations in (at least) Canada, England, and Sweden, as a one night screening, scheduled as a protest against proposed funding cuts to the National Endowment for the Arts, and held on a date chosen to coincide with the date the film’s protagonist launches his rebellion.

$2 From each ticket to be donated to the National Endowment for the Arts. The Texas Theatre supports public arts funding and we hope you do too!
